Bid Deal??
And what is the big deal here? It is well known that MS is fighting open source, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that MS would do all it can to guide money and/or help to companies that will aid them in that battle. If you read the memo without the comments, you will see that nowhere in the memo did it say that MS gave the money to anyone to be passed to SCO. It said that MS had guided the money, it also memtioned wanting to meet with different divisions within MS. Nowhere in the memo did it show where MS had done anything illegal or for that matter unethical. The only way MS could have done anything illegal in the matter would have been to give the money to the companies to give to SCO and then only if they did not report it in the proper accounting requirements and why would MS do that. They have every right in the world to lend money to or invest in SCO. The open source people hate them anyway so doing so would make no difference there. The justice department wouldn't care as long as MS followed regulations when they did it. The SEC more than likely would not get involved if MS was just lending the money or investing it in some or all of SCO's business lines or buying an interest in SCO. Even then they probably wouldn't care as long as it wasn't a controlling interest, especially if MS bought non-voting stock like they did with Apple. So again I ask. What is the big deal? So MS guided companies to SCO. Nothing illegal there. Lets say that they even recommened that the companies invest in SCO, nothing illegal there. Even if MS itself decided to lend money to or invest in SCO, there is nothing illegal about it. Would having it be known that MS was helping them hurt SCO's case. Doubtful, the open source people hate them now almost if not as much as MS. The regular people would not have cared. The law would not have cared.

So if MS even did it, it is no big deal except to people want the SCO case to fail. To people who want SCO to win it is good news . To the rest of us who don't care one way or the other about either SCO or open source, it is a non story.
