Windows is not an OS
DOS is the OS and Windows is an Application running on DOS.

Now they expanded the IDEA into an OS with Windows 95. I believe Windows NT came from thier work with OS2 and another OS that for some reason I just can't remember the name of. Win 2K and XP came from the merging of the best parts of the 9X and NT OSes with a smattering of Unix.

So it didn't magically appear but evolved from existing OSes. But that's what happens in life. Look at cars they all evolved from one inventors idea over 100 years ago.

Why re-invent the wheel?
