If Adobe was smart
They'd be porting their video products to Linux. MainConcept looks like they're almost ready to spring Main Actor for Linux but Adobe has a fairly comprehensive suite. Add a distribution manager for a render farm and they'd have a home run. That would totally rock. Give the mid-range guys a chance to play with the big boy shops, which are all pretty much Linux anymore.

For mid-range players I'd have to say Mac with FCP 4 today. Windoze has Vegas, which is okay if you don't mind prodcut activation, the Adobe package and Avid, if you have the $$$ and patience to learn it.
