Who discovered America for Europeans?
Lief Erickson found a great deal of land, started a settlement, met the indigenes. But the settlement died out and the incident was largely forgotten.

Christopher Columbus found a couple of islands. But his voyage began major efforts at colonization. You've heard of him.

In terms of the effect on history and money made for the country from which the voyage began, which man would you say was more important?
