Software industry liability
The answer is not to get rid of the perpetual license. There are many products out there that people are very content to stay with for 10 years. The point here is that software makers put out junk and the license we are forced to swallow says it is our fault. Put out quality software and you will never want for business. The upfront cost of a product is part of doing business... paying the monthly fee would become part of doing business. The part that most tech guys stress about is "Will it work as advertised?" Nobody really stresses over the dollar amount until it DOES NOT WORK. All I read in this article was rhetoric about how to make more money and not how to make better software so we can make more money. Shift the business model to take their eyes off the glaring problem of poorly produced software.
