I'll take some bets..
As I've had the oppurtunity to work in the ERP industry. I can say this.. SAP won't be bought out from MS for the simple fact it's a money making machine in the ERP. It is the leader (by itself), although complex.. The only reason Oracle is number 1 is it had to buy out all the other ERP applications to compete get ahead of SAP.

"That or SAP will lose when Microsoft licenses their software and codes a similar application."

The problem is, Microsoft's current model of development can't support an ERP development cycle. For the simple fact that updates, fixes are happening frequently. Customizations happen by the majority of customers.

It is not a stagnant industry like application development. Where you buy something out of the box and can configure it to your liking.

You need people to help you move to it, and people to constantly review your business processes. "Help Desk" support doesn't help since it requires people knowledgeable in that customer's requirements. Integration from one ERP to another is a long orduous process etc etc...

SAP being bought out is about as likely as Google being bought out by Microsoft. It ain't gonna happen.

I can see Microsoft buying some "stocks" in it although, but I deffinitly can't see SAP folding to Microsoft when SAP is clearly ahead of the game.

Great Plains vs SAP.. You can't even compare it. That's like comparing.. Quickbooks to SAP. happy
