Actually, Sun is poised for a nice rebound...
Java remains the #1 language for server/web development in the enterprise space today. Here, where I work, it is our strategic platform for all new application development. We have to give a justification to deviate. Java continues to drive the enterprise software market. Have you not read how M$ recently made the giveaway of Visual Studio Express permanent? They are desperate for new uptake of their tools. They've always been smart enough to realize that getting developer mindshare is what matters...only they've lost it. Sooo many enterprises have hopped on the OSS wagon and are running LAMP stacks. As F500s have webified and begun running server farms, they've wisened to the value of running farms of blades with Linux and either PHP or Java.

I think you'll be surprised by Sun's upcoming resurgence. They've made some very good moves back getting on board with Opteron servers and open-sourcing Solaris. There will be alot of Java running on top of that. In developer minds, Java never lost relevance. But in executive minds, Sun is very relevant again.
