your typical end user who doesn't know or care about the difference between the linux kernel and the distro. all he knows is that whatever he installed didn't work well for him, and apparently didn't work enough to put a bad taste in his mouth.

This is a problem that Linux will have to overcome to get on the desktop, Linus won't make the kernel user friendly if it means sacraficing stability, security or overall cleaness (right word???), which is an admarable trait but at the same time something that will slow the linux adoption rate. In the end he should get a very very slick product.

Linus is a bad ass!
