Is the Palm OS missing the multimedia boat?

It's about Flash and Mobile AJAX

The Palm T/X and LifeDrive are potentially superior devices for
multimedia Internet access than their counterparts that run
alternative operating systems.

Anybody who has tried to connect a Pocket PC to a wireless
network let alone roam between access points will tell you what
a chore it can be, whereas connecting to wireless networks is
where these Palm devices now excel.

It seems perverse then that having solved the connectivity
problem, that used to dog Palm devices in the past and dog
other devices today, that the web browser that Palm supplies is
so primitive supporting neither Flash nor the emerging Mobile
AJAX standards.

I agree a new multi-tasking operating system is overdue but
what's really needed right now, in the multimedia stakes, is the
ability to view and interact with rich media websites. Investment
in the development of a leading edge browser would seem to be
a relatively less expensive step than waiting for a whole new OS.

Of course a further perverse and ironic twist of fate is that
having sold it's OS to Access who make a browser that might
just support Mobile AJAX or even Flash, it appears that ACCESS
have no intention of supporting the Palm OS (that they now own)
with up to date versions of it's NetFront browser.

Oh dear!
