Wrong Question
The last paragraph of the article :
"I've achieved my objective, which is to say our technology works," Ikezoye said. "It is interesting that the question has shifted from 'Is this possible?' to 'How should this be deployed?'"

The question of "How should this be deployed?" is the wrong question. A more appropriate question would be "Should this be deployed?" IMO the answer is "Not only no, but f*** no!!" The software would be a monster, consuming bandwidth at a pace that spammers around the world would envy.

The article mentions that implementation would most likely be mandatory via legislation. This is completely the wrong approach. If the data were readily available at a REASONABLE cost, there would be no need for the software. As someone once previously noted, when VHS movies were $90 per, piracy was everything. When prices dropped to under $20, people bought them in droves.

What the RIAA & MPAA fail to understand (purposely) is that the distribution and reproduction costs are effectively nil with the internet. Their business models are failing, and they must either adapt or fail. The MPAA did it once with video tapes when they lost the Betamax war.
