Not piratng, licensing
In Windows 98 scandisk was a Norton Utilities product that MS licensed from Symantec.

You can uninstall IE in XP, but then you cannot get updates to XP since they come through IE. But you can get rid of IE.

In XP the disk defragment utility is a version of Diskkeeper, not pirated but licensed.

Software is so complex & large anymore that no one can be certain they have not stepped on someone elses toes until they get sued. MS is like a pitbull here, they do not want to part with any of their monies until they get caught, the same as most other companies do.

As to my copies of Windows, all are legit, bought with US funds, and yes I have allowed MS to install the WGA software, why, because I am honest and truthful, and maybe a lot of you will think I am also a fool.
