ICANN wears the light grey hat
In this fight I root for ICANN. But in case they lose, Internet maintainers had better start work on SiteFinder-blocking software for ISPs and end-users.

And you make a good point. The typing-error market probably isn't big enough to sustain a business. They're going to be tempted to start serving up their answer in response to legitimate, unrelated requests. One in a hundred, maybe, to start, or one in ten...

Having said that, I'd prefer the Internet to be "owned" by an international treaty body. It isn't healthy for world civilization for the Net to be the property of the U.S. This is the businesthat the ITU are in, and you know what? Their stuff works. It works good.

Here's an angle. Is SiteFinder child-safe? Does it describe sleazy web sites using R-rated text? Someone just went to jail for maintaining web sites with names like disneycub.com and barny.com (although those are only guesses) that were pornography links. Maybe once some Verisign execs join them there, SiteFinder will be dropped.
