That almost every aspect of computerdom is under assault via one lawsuit or another ,SCO,321 Studios,Micosoft,....and now Verisign. Makes you wonder exactly 'who is bouncing the ball here.
Might be just as a dainty statement the FTC could just tell verisign to butt off. Having nothing but a frivaluos lawsuit through a behavor wich is only in mention of its own accord.
Seems that when this is seen and done it will be found that Verisign simply wants to 'newspaper other peoples mistakes.Verisign holds the signatures wich make a lot of the internet happen,so whats the big deal when ICAHN sais sorry charlie.
All that rhetoric that goes into - let the private sector handle it 'WHAT IS THE PRIVATE SECTOR ? The sector wich is by business reasonings being bagged of their individual relationships to information they hold to their persons ? The sector wich has monopolists bankers, and financial institutions playing dice with local economies ?
Its not a big deal to have a domain name. Anybody can have one. So whats the big deal about Icahn telling Verisign to shake there stick somewhere else.? This has nothing to do with ICAHN then and has to do with Verisign.
I would think the FTC should tell Verisign to move on in no bigger indifference than turning the channel.
Cause it probably wouldnt cause anybody any problems in giving themselves any self inflicted pleasure.
Was reading somewher where they were discussing an "Internet Regulatory Commition of Something''. Might be just as well to create one,and put Icahn underneath it. But with the ideas of 'private sectors these days, somebodies got to tell business to quit shooting themselves in the foot. It might take legislation to spell it out for them - the businesses. Especially since they cant read or tell of each others own without some kind of internal failure.
