Service?
Software as a service? Those two words should never be used in the same sentence. We already rent the stuff (licensing) and then have to support it ourselves, can anyone say, "IT staff"?

Software needs to become a product. You know something that you buy and own and is supported by the manufacturer. Instead of "buying" licenses we would purchase products that deliver the application(s) we need in a combined hardware/software solution. If one quits working we could swap it out and send the broken one back for service or replacement. You know like a real product.

Just my two cents.
