The problem in paying the SCO lawsuit insurance fee is that it only protects from SCO lawsuits. The licens offer no indemnification against other suits.
And this is important, since taking the SCO licence you have to be very certain that SCO owns all of the GPLed Linux. If they don't the not SCO parts becomes unlicenced and that may open up your business to lawsuits.
Another problem is that you might get involved into discovery processes of Red Hat and other Linux companies sueing SCO for tampering with their customers. So even if you don't become one of the primary parties of a lawsuti you may still have legal costs.
