Interesting, sort of.
I found one statement to be, um, interesting.

"We can tell students about how speech recognition can be used or show them digitalization approaches that let businesses better understand their data. Just demo this stuff, and people really get excited about it.

So there is a disconnect between all of that and what's really drawing more people in. There is a lot of very deep stuff that is critically important for the people who really want to work on the hard platform stuff, the invention required on software verification, new security algorithms, new compiler algorithms, etc.."

I know a lot of programmers and not a one of them are "excited" about anything Mr. Gates mentioned. In fact most would go out of their way to avoid these things. That begs the question, has Mr. Gates lost touch with "people" and what they want from their PCs? Is he so enamored with "corporate" customers that he forgets that is only a small part of the market?

And last but not least is the fact that Microsoft (Bill Gates) is pushing the "university" angle so much. After all, he did drop out of school to follow a dream of building a computer software company. Isn't it funny that now MS requires all new hires to have a collage diploma of some sort? As I said, it appears he has lost touch with the people and even his own beginnings.
