Sweet dreams versus nightmares
---I mentioned nothing about popularity---

Really? So when you said, "If that were true then they would be more out in the business world since that is where the most "average use" is. ", that had nothing to do with the number of users in the business world? You know, the popularity?

---the fact is (which you obviously missed) is that everyday business apps are designed for the Windows Platform---

Every day business apps? You mean like Microsoft Office? Funny, I seem to be familiar with that one, even as a Mac user. And in my business (publishing), the apps are nearly universally Mac-oriented.

---That one good version may not be right for everybody---

A good point. That's why we Mac users have multiple versions of most programs available to us. But there's a point of diminishing returns. I'll ask the same question again--if there are 20 versions of a program versus 5 versions, are you much more likely to find the exact fit for your needs? How specific are your needs, really?

---but the truth remains is that these people don't care about Mac and are trying to hit as many people as possible and Mac OS is viewed as small potatoes---

This certainly plays some role in Mac security, although probably not as much as the design of OSX, which is vastly more secure than Windows from the ground up. Note that I never said 100% secure, just much, much better. You can pretend all you like that the only reason Windows gets so hammered is its popularity, but we all know that that dirtballs who create malware go for the low hanging fruit, the easiest exploits available. And that means Windows.

---So you can live in denial if you want to. Someone please find the ZDNet artical that showed Mac OS vulnerabilities. I know its out there.---

No denial necessary. I read that article. Vulnerabilities that were over-rated and quickly addressed (how long was that last IE vulnerability out there for before it was patched?). The fact is that although no OS is 100% secure, OSX has been 100% secure for the last 5 years. No exploits in the wild. No viruses, no spyware, no worms. You can speculate all you like as far as the reasons for this, but the fact remains, it has been 100% secure. I haven't had a single day where I had to worry about my virus definitions, or spyware bogging down my computer, or had to reinstall my OS. Which I think is pretty damned impressive, and until there's actually an exploit that exists in the real world, Apple will continue to be seen as vastly more secure than Windows.
