---what's tco?---

According to every study I've seen, tco is lower for the Mac over a multi-year period. Often there's a larger initial investment, but over the long haul you save money. But that's an important reason why many businesses don't buy Macs--they're concerned about this year's budget, not the company's budget for the next 5 years.

---What does OSX run to keep away the viruses? No clean up?---

There are a lot of AV products available for the Mac from the usual companies like Mcafee and Symantec. However, since they are reactive products and since there are currently zero Mac viruses, there's no point in owning one, at least not yet.

Really? Want to point me to all the widespread OSX infections that have caused damage? How about one?

Really? Wow, what world are you living in?

---I don't have to do ANYTHING to keep windows safe. AVG is 100% automated. MS defender is also 100% automated.---

How much did you pay for AVG and MS defender? How much is your yearly subscription?

Yes. No viruses exist, so what good is anti-virus software? If there are no definitions to recognize, what is it going to do for you? If/when a virus exists, it will be worth owning, but now, there's no point. It's a waste of money.

---And the keyword for any product is it's usefulness. I may have a 5000.00 dollare rolodex, to use your analogy, but it doesn't keep time any better than my 20 dollar timex. So which do i go with?---

I think you meant "Rolex". And it depends on your needs. The Rolex will certainly last longer than the Timex. And it may be certified for deep water diving, for example. But if your needs are met by the Timex, more power to you. You should definitely go for the cheaper, less powerful, less versatile machine if you have lesser needs. And if you don't mind putting in the time and effort required to maintain that machine.
