Doesn't make the mac better though
We have dozens of mid 90s PCs running windows 95. A PC is a PC is a MAC...whatever. Nobody wants locked into their hardware either. No more than the ongoing saga of "software" lockin. PCs are cheaper, last for a decade. (every one I've ever seen has. A disk does go bad no and then, or a power supply but after 24/7/3650...it's gonna). Why would anyone want locked into Apple only hardware and if they do switch to the MAC OS...then software? Isn't the trend moving quicly away from proprietary? That is certainly what all of the mags and open source zealots are saying here day and night. So why now, in 2006, is anyone going to start thinking about getting locked into this "superior" PC? It makes no sense. This will gain them less than 1/10 of a percent of market share with the wind at their back and no other surprises.
