We looked Caldera - didn't like it

We looked at Red Hat - better, but still "too techie" in some corners

We then looked at SuSE. Good enough, search over. Get it on all the desktops by the end of the week.

There was no way we would ever have looked at Knoppix, PCLinuxOS or Boondock Linux. We looked at the big, well supported vendors and picked one of those. We avoided Debian, Gentoo, Mandriva, etc simply because the geeks liked them and we took that to mean that skills such as reading dumps, command line interfaces, b*gger all configuration tools would be the order of the day.

That's how it will work. If IBM picked up and supported Boondock Linux then we'd look at it. But unitil that happens the "geek" distros will stay just that.
