Sybase clearly the target

Sybase are currently market leader with SQL Anywhere, it cannot be an accident that MS chose the name SQL Everywhere.

However Microsoft make the claim that SQL Everywhere goes "beyond relational". In my experience phrase is usually an indication that the speaker is about to lose any tentative grip they might have had on rational thought and launch into a extended bout of eXcitable Marketing Language.
