Be careful of what you ask for,
you might get it. Give thanks to the DOJ - all your complaints have been brought by them.

Gee, all the champagne corks popping because MS had to relinguish desktop area to OEM's. Gosh, wasn't it grand that MS was forced to allow other ISP's access via a shortcut in the boot process? Zowie, all this freedom for the consumer - and you wanted a fast machine too?

OEM install in a DIY box where I control the hardware and what software goes in. Multiple layers of firewall and spyware utilities on top of anti-virus, and my machine boots very nicely, thank you. When I had dialup, I configured my own connections to the POP, and kept the ISP ever helpful software installs on the CD where it belonged. Same when went to broadband. Software when installed is taught to behave, and play well with others - or is uninstalled - the registry keys deleted and the directory removed. Programs don't open unless I want them to, or I see a need for it to start. And I can/do multiple boot with whatever OS I want to.

Last store bought box was a Compaq, POS, and will never ever ever do that again.
