wrong
bad assumption. I'm writing to you on the suse box right now. I can surf the web just like you, I can check my bank account just like you. I can write and send e-mail just like you. I can even play my favorite computer game enemy territory ( sorry it-user). the only thing I can't do easily that I did with my MS widows box is watch a quicktime stream inside the browser. But that's not worth $800 to me. It's also not worth having MS tell me I have to purchase new software everytime I upgrade my system.

As far as office goes. I just had some friends visit me on vacation and while here they wrote a paper using open office, saved it as office 2000, mailed it to themselves back home. and then opened it up just fine on their MS box. So where ever you got the idea you can't be productive with a suse linux box you are way off.
