That statement is unfair
I run a full Windows shop and have not used Linux a lot, so I do not have expertise to say anything about it. I am sure it is a fine OS, from what I heard of it.

However, I do know Windows, and you obviously have not installed Windows in a while. 100s of hours to reinstall and maintain? I do not think so.

I can install 40 machines at a time with XP and all software and security settings I want in less than an hour and that is it. Nothing more, unless is is specific software the person needs.

Whether it be Linux, Windows, Sun, or whatever, if you know the operating system and maintain it properly, you will rarely run into problems with it.
