Competition at work
at last the spineless people who would stick to MS (under the deceptive notion of 'you cannot lose with wintel') realized that they needed to do something with (a) the cash hemorhage and (b) the horrendous security situation with their beloved platform.

Linux has forced MS to DROP the PRICES to make the TCO of their systems COMPARABLE to that of LinuX wink

Although there is no doubt that saving billions is a good idea, in the long run one saves much more by resorting to more reliable and secure platforms.

Apparently, the TCO 'reports' issued by the various 'research' firms (doctored .... erhm sponsored by MS) are as valuable and truethful as the trashy MS s/w and their PR campaigns, respetctively.

To ALL MS FANS: you should be thankful to the Linux movement that has managed to make the prices of your beloved s/w pile LESS COSTLY TO YOU.
