"Going Against Type" means the author doesn't understand
Any time you have to use a phrase like "going against type", it
simply means that you don't get it - your "type" is wrong. The
thing to then, when you realize that you have a pre-conceived
notion that is totally wrong - is to do some journalism and
investigate WHY. Once you understand why, then you can decide
whether the phenomenon rates a story. But instead, the author
just reviews a few random people and strings their own
comments along with his own preconception and calls it a story.
Its little more than water cooler talk. There is no fact here you
can use, just News Flash: group acts different than my
preconceived notions lead me to expect. Here's a news flash for
ya: we don't care about your preconceived notions.
