This will NOT make the two interfaces more similar.
We are only talking a common api to interact with the window manager / desktop. This way, applications can run on EITHER desktop WITHOUT a re-compile.

Granted, some application written to ONLY GTK or QT currently run fine on either, but, with NO interaction with the window manager. When we close the desktop, for instance, we want to be warned about un-saved files.
