Too much fertilizer in the garden
"The idea is to convince broadband users, whether on DSL or cable, to pay an additional $14.95 a month to access AOL's walled garden of services and content."

As long as there is FREE content on the web this won't work. Most if not all of AOL's services or content can still be found for free elsewhere. Couple that with the prevailing thought of the average consumer is "I am already paying for my DSL line why pay more for content?" I won't.
