MacArthur Park - Melt the cake
"It took so long to bake it...."

It takes gall, stupidity, and greed in equal parts to propose "solutions" for MS's monopoly. Three quarters of a billion dollars (a thousand, thousand, thousand $) is an outrageous penalty for a most obtuse and questionable "practice". In any event, revising the embedded code in the kernel, then making it transparent, will expose intellectual property (code) and pretty much make it available to all.

The solution actually involves a criminal or criminally stupid act of destruction of privately developed and owned intellectual property. It closely relates, by appearance and effect, to an asset takeover by a third-world country. Is this why the EU was created, to enhance crimes of opportunity?

The court is too vain and proud to admit it does not have the intellectual capability to look into operating system logic and the evolution of system methods and procedures! Now it fears for its reputation. Will the court's conscience prevail and dismiss the entire case, settle for a pittance to save face, or continue with this farce? In the meantime, you can bet that several assistants are collecting "favorable" statements from this and related blogs: most often juvenile, MS bashing, stereotypical comments.

Obviously, the plans to "melt the cake that took so long to bake" were laid down early, and the EU court is looking ever so much like a small country run by a petty dictator who wants to solve deficit spending by "nailing" Microsoft.

Sorry, but that is the way it looks, and smells.
