If you are still using the 12 year old MS-Office apps, they will convert over fine. If you are using newer versions, depending on the app. and which version you will not be able to convert the files.

MS Office is getting more and more closed with each version, as Microsoft becomes less and less accountable to users of alternative general-purpose business application users.
