This is just plain bad
Patents were meant for innovation, so an inventor could make some money off of a new SIGNIFICANT idea. Now, the patent office has turned patents into a business model, where every stinking piece of code or obvious idea is rushed to the patent office so that the company can lock it up for themselves. Webcrawlers, pay per click, and yes even advertising were all around before these companies were.
