About the only problem with Xen is the rapid pace at which the development is going makes it hard to incorporate into the kernel. But, at this rate, it will soon be mature enough that the development will slow down and it can be added as a standard part of the kernel. It is so far ahead of Microsoft that it is not even funny, and MS is moving at a snails pace in comparison. People are already using Xen in production environments.

And couple all of this to the problems Microsoft is having recuiting talent, and the boys at Microsoft will wonder what hit them.

Another thing, OpenVZ, to do Linux partitions (like BSD Jails or Sun containers) is comming right behind. This will be a lighter weight way to do multiple copies of the same OS that uses a lot less memory. When will Microsoft have partitioning?
