Not common sense - rather ignorance...
Websphere is a commercial product for a specific application... How does this compare to Java???

The point of Java is that it is a building block for any platform, so where is the sense in your comparison???

If IBM will gain hardware dominance once more(like stated in one of the replies) it will be through IBM's competitive continuance in innovative high performance hardware... Compared to Sun's Ultrasparc IV which was how late and how slow even compared to Power 4 (Power 5 coming soon)???

It of course dangerous for Sun to make any of Java open-source, after all it is the only thing they have going for them these days!
