couldnt they
could they make some kind of copyright to the JVM and then licence out permissions to only those they want to have it? and only under strict conditions? kinda like a modified GPL, that includes a claus that says "use of this software by buisness enterprises is only permissable under autorization by sun and its partners".

im sure it would take a legal oppinion to make this iron clad, but something along those lines no?
