Microsoft is always promising world-changing technology and to do this or that better then before. It usually means a new skin for the same cr*ppy code and a different colour for the START button.

So at the show they did demo that shows office applications linking with Vista bits - like OLD, DDE, and ActiveX do? There's nothing new here.

Now if they demonstrated a live data feed from an IBM zSeries or a MAC or a Linux box or all three then I would start to be impressed particularly if those three could yank the data they needed out of the windows box and a true data transparency was available. Now THAT would be impressive. Of course, it would set data free from being locked up in Office......
