- Iv got the Clue

But there is the problem of that little corner. I have subscription to several technology based publications. One of them in wich an author from a magazine puts out,the magazine now not in publication however the author does other things for a different company.
In some of his emails he describes his problems with having tried to receive broadband, and the choices of companies/broadband types (e.g.cable,dsl). For dsl,or any type of dsl there is a situation in wich 'lines are utilized, while there are several different companies using them. Some for phone, and some for DSL for example. In the neighborhood setting a company for a given customer in the neighborhood requireing a service had a necesity to 'turn on a given line by leaving it 'tagged - for service, not for service. Why a given company would do this, but problem being a company would come along and 'untag his line, for one reason or the other while he had been subscribed to it. (there is a specification for DSL so many miles, given area I wont go into this). Just why this would happen is beyond my information at present, but it was because of the different companies doing so in wich the problem presented itself.
Cable wasn't available in his area at the time.

As for that corner, dont believe it matters that I know how DSL works or not.I know that is 'does work, and yes there is a specification for DSL wich creates its performance specification over a regular telephone line via a DSL modem for example using 'more bytes/less lines (or buad).
Right now, there is not a way to receive service - over ANY line without having first installed phone service from where I live. Hence,no dial tone,no phone- no DSL. There is simply not a servicable 'line for the DSL. At least from here anyway.
This is the reason I was wondering how it is a company could simply offer DSL over a given line since from my viewpoint this simply would not work. What Im reading of this is DSL can be chosen between different 'phone service proprietors, for example a given ATT 'line, taking Quest DSL.
If it was I had a choice of taking the DSL 'phone, over regular phone I would have to ask myself, ''why didn't the DSL modem get put inside the phone itself"". Not a large step in assessing the technologies performance in and of itself.
And just the same,I dont see the reason something as a PNP PCI DSL couldn't have been created,or a DSL modem within PCI specification for computer, or PNP put into a regular television with the correct detail.
M.Powell of the FCC was speaking of having a PNP type 'modem box for cable in wich could be used for a television. But I dont see what the article may be trying to persuade of somekind of taxi grab between companies offereing DSL service over telephone lines. Since I know there is nothing to grab without first having phone service. Even though a DSL runs on phone lines in and of itself and ''how''. It would be just as much a taxi grab for a specification in wich the PNP M.Powell had described to be one in utilizing the DSL as well as cable.
DSL modems used to cost thousands of dollars if purchased in retail.I havent looked into them recently for there cost. Although they probably are less than a few hundred bucks. And some companies wich provide 'service require their own proprietary modems.
So Ive got plenty of clues.
