At least standardize on a GUI
If Linux wants to eat into the Windows business desktop space, the first thing that Linux distros need to do is standardize on a GUI. Gnome, KDE, it doesn't matter, but pick one and be done with it. Professional software developers tend to like getting as native as possible when developing high-performance graphical applications. This is for performance more than anything else. An app built with hooks into Gnome probably won't work on a KDE desktop and vice-versa. In the open source world, I'd think Gnome would be the logical choice due to the dual license model of Qt, a requirement for developing proprietary (read native) KDE applications. There are some improvements needed in Gnome. A Gnome version of Konquerer would help greatly, as well as an easier method for showing hidden files.
