You are not qualified to make that statement!
All evidence (and as indicated by IBM, numerous posters, Microsoft, etc.), you don't have a clue about getting an OS ported to a given procesor. Windows (curent NT based systems) uses (or did use) a HAL (hardware Abstraction Layer) in order to run on different processor types (x86, MIPS, Alpha and PowerPC). Linux, NetBSD and OpenBSD already run on many more diferent and varied processors than that. MacOS runs on a Mach or BSD kernel, thus allowing it to be ported to a new chip architecture relatively easily (if they chose to support Cell).

As to what runs on a given processor (Cell in this case), some of the contributors to Linux happen to work at IBM and probubly contributed the required kernel level code to achieve this. The same holds true for any other processor that is supported by one of the Open Source kernels (Linux, BSD).

How does your own ignorence of CPU's and systems architecture negate the knowledge of hundreds of more qualified people than yourself?
