One of the advantages of opensource software is that it can be easily ported. NetBSD is a prime example of an OS that has been ported across 30 platforms.

Linux is not that far behind. Yes, some of the applications need to be recoded to take full advantage of what the Cell has to offer, but once this takes place and the I/O is set, bringing apps accross should be much easier. Like bringing binaries across in BSD.

IBM looks to put Linux in the center circle. As they roll more towards the services industry.
