The statements you have made are doubtful for 2 reasons:
1. You do not know for sure.
2. You never bothered research the least of the issue even with material avaliable on the IBM website.

Given these, you should probably stop trying to pass your opinion as fact. In the meantime, entertain yourself with this document:

Most will take the material on IBM's website as fact, over your opinion or assumption. From the referenced article one can draw the conclusion that IBM added support for the Cell processor in Linux back in mid-2005, and that the source-code is only now making its way into the official kernel source tree.

Taking into account that Cell is based on the PPC architecture which has been supported in Linux for years, there is no reason why there would be a delay of supporting all that Cell has to offer. Even if it uses an instruction-set significantly different from PPC, there is still no reason for IBM to delay the work.

Either way, it is nice to see Linux support yet another processor architecture.
