Win the Game wars, lose (or start losing) to Mac
This announcement probably won't make a more than a single
digit dent in Windows market share, but to Apple, it could
double their market shhare. If Apple could seize the moment
and dangle their fruit a little lower, it would be ripe for the
picking. Lots of folks have been waiting for Mac OS X (Tiger)
stability, ease of use and cool apps to make their way to the PC
world, but pipe dreams about Vista in 2006 have kept them
waiting.
Of course the same forces are in effect for the gaming market
with PS3 delays. Microsoft chalks up a win there! WinXP Media
Center + XBox360 is still a pretty compelling bundle. If Apple
can do it (with an XBox 360 or with another game console)
they'd snap that up with Front Row technology.
