Stop whining...
It makes me mad to think PC makers are relying on Redmond for sales of their hardware. One sure fire way to spur hardware sales at Holiday time is to innovate. For example, Dell could release machines with red and green cases and call it something like "Dell Dimension Holiday Edition". This would serve a niche market of discriminating PC buyers who want something new and different. Like a fine wine, the Vista eXPerience will only get better with age. One thing PC vendors should do is soak up the cost of Vista and provide coupons to customers for free Vista upgrades when it is released. This way Microsoft gets paid and the hardware vendor soaks the cost. Or, do what I do: Call your friendly neighborhood rep and get the LATEST AND GREATEST TODAY. My MS rep can catch me anytime using .NET technologies and let me know the exact time and location of the drop-point for interim bits.
