It would indeed be good to have somekind of agreement with major hardware manufacturers for drivers or the chance to write drivers for the hardware.

It would be great to have good drivers for example all 3D graphics cards at the time of their release, or even late...as long as the drivers are available.

That would open up the opportunity for Linux games more often, for example.
