I thought that the weekly thing was good enough, despite the volume of patches that came out every week. Now we hear about vulnerabilities a week after their monthly release, and we bite our nails hoping we don't get hacked while waiting for the fix to come three weeks later.
When they started the monthly thing, I remember hoping that they'd at least not put out any more patches that break people's systems. I CAN say that, since then, I haven't had any patches break any of my systems.
