Does per capita mean anything

Per capita just means that for every say 100,000 population the US puts out 500 engineers. But in China for every 100,000 they put out only 300 engineers. But china has more groups of 100,000 than the US and therefore puts out more engineers in total. Between China and India you have 2.5 Billion people compared to the US where you have 300 million. So of course the US is putting out more per capita but less over all.

Still I think that is good thing. It just means you have a better educated population compared to China and India.

PS: My numbers are made up to show a point. They aren't actual or anything.
