Of course we are stupid in math
We are stupid at math because it is economically discouraged. I used to be pretty good at it but you lose what you do not apply. In America the following careers are better than engineering:

Plumbing
Residential Electrician
Automobile Mechanic
Hair Stylist
...just about any thing else...

Math skills simply do not pay. Will that hurt American, yes. But for now our politicians are becoming wealthy selling us out so until we finally realize that an armed rebellion is the only solution we can do nothing. Math and science are not valued in the U.S. Harvard MBA's who can loot a company or lawyers who can sue profitable industries off-shore is what America truly values.
