The True Concern
It has always been the primary goal of any company to maximize return on investments. The clarion call of capitalist philosophy is very strong. Regardless of the production value of a worker, employers want to pay the lowest wage possible, "can you say minimum wage?" We haven't seen much of a change in this strategy since society first began to develope situations where a number of people provide their labor for the economic benefit of a smaller group. The only hope for American workers is to develope a more equitable relationship with corporations. Which by it's very nature becomes more dificult, exponentially based upon the greed of the CEOs, leaders of these companies. Consumers enjoy the benefit of reduced prices when labor is cheapened, in those rare instances that companies actually pass along the savings. Nonetheless, I wonder if the culprits can see the detriment that they are perpetuating by continuing to reduce the available financial resources of our citizens. How can they hope to continue to increase their profit margins when their strategy is to produce increasingly more impoverished societies. I doubt that corporations are willing to spread the wealth more evenly to individuals whom they employ whether on or offshore. Even though they are desirous of continuing to increase their bottom lines, I wonder if they can suspend their greed long enough to raise the economical werewithal of their constituents.
