IT is not just cheap servers.
Yes, Linux is taking business away from Unix in servers. But Windows servers are being sold in quantity anyway; took the lead last year.

Quoting:
Most of the IT's now days thanks to IBM, just sit and look at monitors.
EoQ

Not quite.
There's another article on CNet about CIOs complaining how difficult it is to find IT people with strong business backgrounds these days. People are being brought in from other fields to run projects.

IT has to sell itself to the rest of the organization based on services provided directly. No more mysterious new technologies under IT auspices.

IBM does use Linux to lower bids, does provide resources and credibility. All to help IBM's services and hardware and even software businesses.

A couple of minor points.
.Net competes with Java, not Linux or anything Google and FireFox do.
Enterprises are not often embracing FireFox, at least not so far.
Google has a group of free services typical of a portal. Think of them as competing with Yahoo and MSN primarily. The extent to which Google can supply services beyond the portal category has yet to be determined, will depend upon acceptance of the internet as a network.
