Ballmer: IBM in the crosshairs
Interesting, but does Microsoft really believe that IBM learned nothing from their illegal actions on the OEM front with Windows 95? Do they really expect IBM to sit back and again await the DOJ to act on anti trust violations? I think that Ballmer may just be surprised. IBM did not really want to re- interest the DOJ in their software activities then because IBM had just recently settled with the DOJ on business practices. The most recent DOJ settlement is now on the Microsoft side and it is under increasing attack for Microsoft's failure to comply with their own written sales plan that was accepted as a settlement.

And who knows? Since they have finally announced a termination date for OS/2 support, IBM might even release all code not tied up in their agreement with Serenity Systems for eComStation to the open source movement and or Public Domain. This could get quite a bit of open source support for those 20 million OS/2 desktops that Sun has been awaiting.

?The company has for years marketed its products to the tech elite within big companies. Now Microsoft is making concerted effort to speak the language of top executives.?

I suppose that the advertisements in the airline magazines were not aimed at CEOs.

The connections that Microsoft makes are to products that are properly documented for interconnection. This is unlike Microsoft which does not provide the correct documentation to allow this.
