- Mandriva Linux is available for free
- You can go to Mandriva's web site and download their distribution for nothing. Just because a company starts charging for something doesn't mean that they won't still give it away for free (you're not paying for the software anyway, just the packaging and support). And you could always go to another company that offers it for free, or make your own distro if not of them fit what you want.
